Stitching Together Community: Harris County Library's Exciting New Sewing Workshops

I’m so thrilled to have launched a special partnership with the Harris County Library to offer FREE sewing workshops to our incredible community! These workshops are designed to make sewing education accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience level.

This pilot program has kicked off at two wonderful library locations:

  • Parker Williams Library at 10851 Scarsdale Blvd, Houston, TX 77089
  • Evelyn Meador Library at 2400 N Meyer Ave, Seabrook, TX 77586

Whether students are complete beginners or a seasoned pros, there’s something for everyone! Participants are learning essential skills such as how to operate a sewing machine, read patterns, alter clothing, hand embroidery, and even create a stylish and functional tote bag.

These workshops are designed to empower students with practical, creative, and rewarding skills. My sessions are hands-on and students leave each workshop with new skills, completed projects, and a sense of accomplishment.

Heartfelt Thanks to Our Sponsors

A huge thank you to Baby Lock USA and Canada for making this program possible. This initiative wouldn’t be happening without their generous support. Baby Lock has provided six Jubilant sewing machines and one Vibrant serger from their Genuine Collection, ensuring students have access to top-notch equipment. The Jubilant machine is perfect for beginners, with features like 80 built-in stitches, an automatic needle threader, and a free arm for sewing cuffs and sleeves. The Vibrant serger adds a professional touch to projects with its 4-thread stitching and adjustable presser foot.

I also extend my gratitude to the Oliso Iron Company for supplying high-quality irons, helping participants press their projects to perfection. A special thank you to the Ironmatik Company for their donation of two ironing boards, ensuring that our sewing spaces are fully equipped.

Why This Partnership Matters To Me

Sewing isn’t just a craft—it’s a powerful way to foster creativity, self-expression, and community. It encourages sustainability through clothing repair and customization, offers a therapeutic outlet, and builds a sense of accomplishment that can extend into other areas of life.

I can’t wait to see the vibrant, handmade projects our participants will create—and the connections they’ll make along the way.

Space is limited so students can register here.

Happy Sewing,
Bianca
